Michael G. Busby Jr. has practiced law since 2002 and has tried more than 400 cases across 25+ years in and around the courtroom. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law and a B.S. with honors from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Before the law, Michael served nearly a decade in uniform: enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve at seventeen, then serving as a field artillery specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps — including two Pacific tours with the 4th Battalion, 12th Marines on Okinawa — and finishing his service in the Army National Guard. He also worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Oklahoma and North Carolina, work that taught him how to be steady for families on their hardest days.
That background shapes how the firm practices today: disciplined preparation, straight answers, and calm under pressure. Michael and the firm's attorneys appear daily in the ten Harris County family courts and about twice a week in the three Fort Bend County family courts.

Andrew Iwata

Andrew Iwata joined the firm's family law department in 2015 after roughly ten years practicing employment law and business litigation. That litigation background gives him a broad command of procedure and courtroom strategy, which he now applies to family law matters across Harris County and the surrounding counties.
Andrew is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association, and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Texas. He earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

One more thing: Michael is an ordained minister and performs wedding ceremonies — free at the office or over Zoom, and free on solstices, equinoxes, and your birthday. Under the rules that govern lawyers, marrying a couple means he is forever conflicted out of representing either spouse against the other. We think that is a fine way to run a family law practice.
